Good chart Ken :thumbup

I need to add the distance of caliper mount faces from spindle centre and also caliper mount faces from outer disc edge as there becomes lots of confusion deciding on caliper spacers when forks/calipers are miss matched

I still think its odd that I came up with 2mm and the norm is 2.5mm

I have no doubts you are right about 2.5mm Sam, I'm just going off the gap either side of the disc to caliper body. 5mm disc with 2mm either side (in the body of the caliper) using 2mm spacers. Its even so I'm happy, I think :O

Maybe my front end is all bent and twisted :lol

TL yokes are 7mm wider = 3.5mm each side

TL wheel is 2mm wider = -1mm each side

Difference is 2.5mm :thumbup :laugh

Mine's bent then :thumbup :lol

I'll have to try a set of GSXR calipers and see if there is any difference to these R1 monos.

Make 100% sure your bottom triple shims are exactly 0.5mm and not some close match wire gauge as that will pull/push your bottom spaces :thumbup

Not exactly good for stiction either :lol

Well I've checked the shims as best I can, post Stella admittedly! Would you mind taking a look at Anglesey Sam? (Bring a spare set of spacers with you too! :laugh)

The fatty is about to be lowered from its BSDM A-frame today so it can get an MOT. A day off work to boot! :doug

Forgot to say, stickton is at 5mm right now, not bad for unserviced forks! :)

D'Ecosse:

In the chart above, what does the "bore" refer to? :confused

The diameter of the big hole in the middle of the disc carrier :thumbup

Thought so... but Im dumb so better to ask. lol... :laugh

Who measured the R1 calipers? I have some on my 06 750 forks (310mm rotor) and I got spacers from Zoran and they are about 2.5mm instead of 4.

I'm just curious.
One of the guys is running them on 03/04 1000 bottoms with 310 discs and needed 5mm spacers, so I worked it out from that :confused

Would appreciate a double check though if your pads are centred on the disc face with no overlap etc I would like the measurement from the caliper mount face to the centre of the axle :O

Are you sure it is an 03-04 1000 with 310 rotors? That doesn't add up at all according to the chart. If he ran 320 rotors then he would need 4mm spacers, according to the chart.

I'll measure when I get a chance.

Yes, forgot that bit, he's running 310 rotors on an SV1000 :laugh

No, GSXR front end in an SV1000 with SV wheel and discs

It's me trying to multi task with a poor memory :laugh

Right, I'll start again.......

320mm discs with GSXR1000 K3/K4 forks and 5mm caliper spacers

115.5mm Caliper face to axle centre + 5mm spacer = 120.5mm x 2 for diameter = 241mm

Difference for 320mm discs is 320-241 = 79mm / 2 = 39.5mm for R1 Caliper assuming pads are equeal on swept area of disc.

Here is the for sale thread

39.5mm seemed odd, I would assume the exact figure is 40mm ?

:confused now i'm confused :laugh heres my set up , sorry to throw a spanner in the works. I have 04/05 gsxr 600 showa forks with 08 1000 calipers. The only thing i needed to change out is the rotors going with 320mm tl rotors or i could have used the stock 04 600 gold calipers with spacers and retained the stock sv 310mm rotors :).......... there are many ways to cross a river grasshopper :laugh but i went with some nice speedking 320 rotors :hail later model forks ie 08 have shorter legs at the fork bottom hence calipers mounts >(08)being longer than the 04 calipers! :yes

yay , those calipers are sweet , now what to do with them :laugh

top is 04gsxr , bottom is 08 you can see the difference in length of caliper mounts with 06/08 ? being shorter hence a larger caliper . Still not sure how the r1 calipers fit into this but it looks like they will be a straight bolt on with my current set up with 320 rotors
