There now. All back together ... except for the zorst straps. Starts, stops and runs. Should pass an MOT. So all good then ... well not quite.

Phase 2 will see all the mods that need to be done ... being done. Next will be the powder coating of all the bits n pieces. New plastics .... it'll be a new bike .... sorta :)

Braided hoses to improve braking next. Powder coat my spare wheels, tank brackets, fairing bracket. I have a brand new side stand with thin paint ... So that'll get done too. Also, I want to do the lower fork brackets holding the calipers ... I have spare forks so can do that. New tank and all carbon fibre panels to finish. Oh yeah and the rear shock change. I'll fit the new water pump cover soon too.
Whoa ... my first ride on a TLS. Nice. Took it up the road and put fresh fuel in it. Seriously loud with the Harris cans. At least it works ... even the suspension didn't feel too bad. I do need to strip the front fairing off and have a look at the wiring .... rather stupidly I didn't pay attention to the layout of the loom and it now fouls the steering on left lock. I didn't bother to photograph it when I got it because I assumed it was wrong judging by the mess that it was in ... all hanging down under the chin spoiler. Anyone got a pic of the layout. Naw .... I'll go have a look through the threads and the manual.
Damn ... Seems like phase 2 has gone off like a rocket. Just procured a load of bits from a well known TL breaker in order to get the powder coating underway. Also, just acquired a set of zorsts from ... well a very decent chap from this site actually. This level of spend will send me into the 'Oh shit gotta keep going now mode'. Bugger here we go again. :whoop

Took a few pics and have my S in the garage for more if you need. I am upgrading the electrical. So I have the harness on the floor...

Thank you rxf610 .... Not quite what I was after but good to see anyway.

When I got my bike the wiring around the headlight, clock binnacle etc was like a pigs breakfast. Can't have been right. I then stripped it back chasing down an electrical fault. Took off the handlebar controls and continuity tested everything else incl. connector blocks. Trouble is I don't think I've quite got the re routing right as the yellow and the white connectors seem too high just catching the right hand fork leg this means they're moving .... Can't be good as it'll fatigue the wires and cause them to break in short order. I just have to man up and go back out into the cold garage, remove the fairing and re work the wiring. At the mo I have the controls cables running through the guide attached to the ignition switch ... Sure they were like that originally.

Loads of bits arriving in the next few days including my new cans so I'll have to get on with it.

In the meantime gotta install my new dishwasher .. It arrived at 07:30 this morning!!! This replaces the one that destroyed itself a couple of days before crimbo .... Perfect timing ... Meant I had to do the washing up .... Now that's a rare event indeed.:)

check it using the manual, it has wiring layout diagrams in section 8 iirc

switchgear elec cables do go through the ignition bracket (metal looped thingy) and then to a metal clamp on the headlight before connected at the left side on the headlight to the main loom. But that is on my R...... S might be slightly different.

Yep got the correct bundles going through the loopy thing. Everything seems to end up on the right hand side .... I've got a new h/light, clock, fairing bracket coming so I have to rip it all out again. When it goes back in I'll apply a bit more thought to it.

Replacing my bracket because something has made the paint disintegrate and looks horrid. Getting the new (secondhand) bracket powder coated ... Part of my plan to make the bike better than new.
powder coating the headlight bracket? think it's made of plastic so not too sure if you could coat that, or do you mean the mirror brace.... I've had mine coated black when I had the rest of the bike coated, looks much better than stock:)

Rich,

It's metal. Mine broke and so I'm sure.
its cast is the headlight bracket so would powder coat fine
Yep defo fab'd metal. Mick found me some clock finishing rubber rings too. So my cockpit is gonna look reet snazzy real quick!
If I remember I will get some pics of the wire routing from mine as its apart at the min
Good project Tony, take a pic once cans on.:thumbup

That'd be great Stu .... Nothin like a pic to sort out a problem. :)
... Good project Tony ....
Hmmmm ... This thing was a basket case when I got it ... Most people would have just scrapped it. Thought I'd take on a challenge. May yet be a step too far.

... take a pic once cans on ...
I'll certainly do that. Love the notion that the cans were on a favourite around here.
Yikes .... I gotta < 24 hour turnaround on the bits I needed powder coating. So apart from the frame brackets they're all now on the bike.

Now when I change out the frame brackets am I going to have problems with the subframe jumping away from the chassis under tension. Thinking about it I shouldn't as there is no real load on it apart from its own weight. I'll remove the seats, rear plastics and battery ... That'll take some weight away.

The more I improve this bike the more I have to improve it ... Vicious circle this. It's beginning to look a bit tidier now though so I must be doing it right.

BTW I used Sprayblast Engineering in High Wycombe, Bucks to do the media blast and PC work. They're going to do my wheels next ... Trying to stay close to the original they've suggested old gold with a hint of metal flake just to make them jump in the sun.
Sounds similar to the gold I've got on my gixer wheels. Should look good.
