HI y'all it's me again!
I have never heard a TL before, and since I've gotten mine, I have still not heard another TL. So I am curious about a whirring noise that I hear. Noticable at idle and increases in pitch with revs. Is this a noise that every TL has or is it something that I should be concerned about? Truthfully I like the whirring sound. Reminds me of hearing turbine jet engines coming to life!

Straight cut gears make the noise, like old KZ engines that had straight cut primary gears, that is the cool whirring noise old Kawasakis make. As to the TL's the scissor gears actually quiet the noise a bit which is exactly why folks remove them. They really aren't necessary and the noise is cool IMHO:devious

I have a 1980 KZ1000LTD with 13,656 miles. It whines just like what you said!

My TLS reminds me of a rock crusher tranny, makes a real loud almost supercharged sound!
