What sort of power can I expect with a new Power Commander and session on the dyno?

I've got my 98 TLS booked in for a Power Commander and setup on the dyno 1st March. What can I expect to get out of it, in horses and straight line speed?

What mods do you have?
Yoshi cans, and a few other non power related mods like Harris rear sets and K5 forks and brakes.

I actually ordered the Power Commander as it's developed a back fire and flat spot so want to be able to remap it and set it up.
when you say backfire do you mean popping when you roll off the throttle and coming down the revs? if so thats the rear exhaust gasket

if its popping when you throttle on and its popping in the throttle bodies you need to set the throttle position sensor and balance the throttle bodies

It's popping when coming off the revs. That's not the bit that bothers me though, it's the flat spot. Seems to get worse the more often I use the bike then if I leave it for a week it's all right again. Really weird.
air leak on pipes for back fire
Checked that and can't find anything. Even had my mechanic give it a once over and he couldn't find anything.
Once it's dyno'd and the PC3 is mapped properly the pops on the overrun should disappear. Someone who knows their way around a yosh box should probably be able to fix it and the flat spots too. I do know such a man but he's a bit of a trek from York. Doubtless there's someone local tho'.
dyno bike at malton can do it with a yosh box or a similar thing but seen as though you have ordered a PC get him to set it up he knows his stuff on the TL just ask sam!!

I'm putting money on the rear exhaust gasket leaking though

You may not actually gain any more power or speed, it will seem like it though as you should find that it will simply run a lot smoother and pick up better, also it should be better from low revs,

Stu knows what's up...

Just an FYI if you decide to dig in. There are two rear exhaust gaskets. The copper crush gasket on the head (a bitch to get to, engine has to be dropped) and the doughnut gasket on the stubby.

That's where I'm booked in, was recommended them by a mate who works at Transit bikes in York. Think it was Paul I spoke to?

How about quarter mile times? I do a bit of run what ya brung at York Raceway, my best time on the TL is 11.5 secs and would love to shave a bit off that

Next Saturday. Can't bloody wait as we're getting the occasional sunny day here and there now and itching to stretch the TL's legs. At the moment even the run up to work is a bit nervous since the powers not always there when you want it
Power wise it should be almost as powerful as a TLS :devious

if theres power not always there and feels flat I would start looking for whats causing it before the dyno run!

theres something not right if its flat sometimes!

check your clutch switch isnt sticking for a start as this will make it stay on the neutral map and will feel flat

also have you got a TRE fitted if so check connections out if the earth has come off it can make it go to neutral map too mine did this the earth got broken some how and was really flat (97 s with the separate earth lead for the TRE )

I've been trying to get it sorted, resorted to forking out for the power commander and dyno since all else has failed. Gave it to my mate who is a mechanic who used to work for Suzuki check it, and apart from cleaning out the air filter and putting in new plugs, he couldn't find anything wrong.

I had thought it was ECU as it was bouncing out of it's seat and from time to time the connection came completely lose and killed the bike. But I've stuck that down with sticky velcro and still getting the problem.

Desperate to get it sorted before race season starts, power commander and dyno is not a cheap affair but that's where I'm at!
personally I think you are pissing in the wind with the PC and dyno at this moment in time

the bike will run cock on without the PC although the PC will be an improvement to the power delivery

it should still run pretty nice

you havent wasted money buying the PC but you may waste it on the dyno if the bike isn't running right to start with ;)

Fair play mate, like I say just getting desperate. Want it sorting and this was the best advice I had given what I'd already done
