the last thing you want is to blind people and them not see where they are driving as they could run in to you!!

Has this been 6 months yet?

:lol

Well, Do NOT surpass 55/60 watts. You'll fry something. You want "brighter", then you're looking for increasing lumens; not wattage. As a matter of fact, a lot of HID and now LED's are as bright if not brighter and use less wattage. Not blinding someone will also depend on the direction the beam is pointing at and the position of the filament against the OEM reflector. Just my worthless thought.
There's two issues. The stock bulb plugs & wires suck and won't deliver too much more, and the plastic front lens (and plastic reflector too) can't stand the heat. So beware of bulbs that are coated for color correction, as the coating sometimes gets very hot! My TLS came with melted bubbled burn spots in the middle of each side's front lens. A headlight relay is a very good thing too! In general, most TLs need either a headlight relay or ignition coil relay or both.
So that's why my lens shows signs of heat stress , probably from before wiring mod .

lets not go there!!!!

HID's are a no go here in the uk with reflector headlights

they might be less wattage but they are 3x brighter and you get too much stray light

not to mention its illegal and can land you 3 points a bulb plus a £60 fine per bulb then theres the added bonus of no type approved headlight if they want to be awkward!

if you want to go HID then you need to go for projectors and remove the lens and fit a clear cover
so itsmesteve your a none helpfull nob who should go sit in the sun and boil your head .brainless thats what you are . all you get on this site is guys taking the piss . thats why no one comes on :O

Missus says you're talking bollox. :lol. She says can you quote the statute for the info you're giving out.
She is an ex cps prosecutor, and we both had hid's on our BMW gsa's for years, headlights and spots,
I've not put them on the tl but the 35 watt on the bm low beam was fackin brilliant.

As you said you would have to go the projector route on the tl, but a lot of others haven't.

as I say it has to be in a projector unit not a reflector!!

BMW's are projectors right? same as spots

they will pass an MOT but you will get done for them

cool i'll keep them on then:laugh
We have kinda covered this before. What i comes down to is that if you fit HID lamps straight into the original H4 housing you will get lots of lovely light and you blind any poor bugger who's coming down the road the opposite way. I've been on the receiving end and it's not pleasant. Yes it can get through the MOT but ultimately its rude and more than a little dangerous. There's a couple of good threads from people who have done a full projector conversion which is arguably the "right" way to do it.

Having said that the latest xenon lamps (just bought some recently - £20 a pair from Halfords ) do a very good job. Construction and output of said bulbs has clearly improved over the last 15 years. A good result for very little cost and effort.
