I think shaft is 10 mm ,cant get wear sleeve found double lipped seals on ebay £3.50 for two anyone confirm size as I haven't pulled it apart yet think from memory it is 10x20x5
Water pump shaft oil leak
HI, replaced water pump and oil seal last year had coolant seal still weeping. oil and pump seals replaced again . Now have oil weep from telltale hole , anyone know size of oil seal and dia and length of of pump shaft looking to fit wear sleeve and or double lipped seal can get sleeve in 15,17 ,19.mm dia just a small weep at the moment , have fitted pipe and catch tank,yes I know it wont get better don't want to pull shaft out if I can avoid it.

It's more likely you nicked the seal or popped off the seal spring when fitting the cover back on, the shaft would have to be in a hell of a state for the seal to leak oil as it's way above the oil level.
Also make sure you replaced the impellor bolt rubber backed washer as that's the main cause of weep hole coolant leaks btw and not the mechanical seal :thumbup

Thanks Sam, have not pulled it apart yet but you are probably right, was careful putting cover back on used 4 cut down IKEA bed screws as guide studs(gasket kept slipping) taped the end of the shaft, but as it was only the coolant seal leaking in the first place not the oil seal ,looks like I cocked it up . found pack of two 10x20x5mm double lip oil seals on ebay £3.90 hope they are the right size :cheers
