I remember listening to a tape of an Iraqi POW when I was in the forces. He said the worst thing for him and many others was you never saw or heard the jets until the bombs were hitting them. He said it was terrifying.
Many an F18 pilot got the finger from me. Nothing like being under an HMMWV doing preventative maintenance to have a Hornet come screaming overhead on the deck. You tend to jump and while under a vehicle that's not exactly ideal.
Spitfire wins it for me too :hail but I can remember getting caught out By Jag's and Tornado's and such like!! Used to love standing underneath the wing of a Tornado when it was on ground-runs in full re-heat!! Awsome!!!
