Top box rack for a TLS

1568 Views 13 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  MjN
Afternoon!

I'm wanting to fit a topbox to the bike but can't find a rack for it. Will anything be the same measurement i.e SV rack? The other option is to look for a spare rear seat to bolt it to, but a proper rack would be better. :)

Any suggestions please?

Cheers.

Me. :)

There's this:

or Givi do a rackmount for an SV650 which might be adaptable. If that could be made to work then it will take all their monokey boxes.

Rentec do a small rack
but I'd go with your other idea of another seat.
Better than having weight hanging out the back of the bike

probably the reason givi withdrew the luggage for a tl1000s back in 97

So you don't fancy a little extra ballast out the back for that extra wheelie assistance? :devious

How about a tow-bar and trailer?

I've got my old TLS rear seat pad with a givi mounting plate drilled and bolted to it lying around the garage - did loads of miles with a 52l top box on it all loaded up no problems.

You can have it for the price of the postage as it'll be of no use to anyone else!!!

Just me me a shout.
The Ventura luggage system offers a small rack and a large rack for the TLS.

I used to also have one that snapped on in place of the passenger seat or hump, but I haven't seen it made in many years.

Thank you for the reply. Rentec wouldn't be any good. The weight limit for the rack is enough for about a fart in Tupperware box. :/ and I don't trust them from previous experience. :)

With the weight of my arse on the bike I am surprised I haven't wheelied it yet. ;)
But the tow bar/trailer sounds like a plan....;P

The Ventura rack is something I would like to invest in in the future. Will need a few pennies saving up first though! It is a very good system so will be worth saving for. :)
Thank you for all of your replies though. Very much appreciated. :)

I find the weight of my moobs counteracts the weight of my behind. :lol

Its all muscle of course. Ha!

Please tell me you didn't, even for a second, take the tow bar idea seriously. This isn't the Goldwing owner's club forum.
You could start with just a Ventura bag and an extra passenger seat in bad condition. Make a hoop of stainless and attach it to the seat. You can add a second bag and rack with hoop later.

PMSL!! :D
That answer is quite simple. No, not even for a nano second. Haha! Would be a first though no??! Not on my bike mind....lol
