can anybody tell me if this true or false, this is just something i have heard, the changing of the standard non damped tlr rear shock unit + losing the damper unit itself, that replacement damped units can be had from other conventional rear mono - shockers from other bikes / or some other suzuki models will fit, with a few little mods. regards al

No, that's not really true. A few folks have managed to fit shocks from older honda's (MAL-601 IIRC), but it requires more than little mods - I think you have to permanently cut off bits of the swingarm and perhaps frame to make it work. The best bet is an aftermarket shock designed to work on the TL. Bitubo, Penske, Ohlins, *********** etc all make great options (or at least made them in the recent past - some may now be out of production).
