Hi to all. New member here and yet to actually own the above bike!! I have 3 other bikes but love the look of these old v twins and am hopefully looking at one this week. I guess I'll be able to answer my own question when I see the bike, but in general wondered what the clutch pull is like, ie is it heavy as like the old Ducatis or more like an SV1000S (which I have). Subjective question I know but reason I ask is I have a brachial plexus injury after a crash years back and subsequent wekened left arm / hand.

Welcome the Zone, DoctorW02!

The OEM clutch on a TLR is hydraulically actuated, so it is just as easy as an SV1K.
However, if it has been modded with a welded clutch center (cam set), then it will be noticeably stiffer. Still manageable, just depends on your ability.

Some TLRs have also had the hydraulic actuator replaced with a cable system from a TLS for more predictable control.

Like you said, you will know when you see it.

Hi hi,
Don't be surprised if the clutch lever is almost all the way out at the bite point Mine is a standard hydraulic clutch and is very light, but the lever is nearly all the way out. Works perfectly. Some aftermarket levers seem to upset the clutch switch and will not allow the bike to start. Things to be aware of if you're not familiar with these fantastic machines.

I have a TLS without the welded center and it is heavily worn. You definitely have to watch those aftermarket levers and the clutch switch. I have upgraded clutch basket springs and it is very manageable. I am planning on using a later model tlr clutch to retain the light clutch feel while fixing my worn clutch ramp feeling. Watch the engagement point if yours is unwelded. the grab is pretty aggressive on my 97 with worn ramps. makes for some interesting wheelies at intersections. Even with the issues I love my tls!

Cheers for info, all good to know. There's not too many nice ones out there atm, so I'm continuing to look. The one i like has crap service history but I'm being told it's priced accordingly. 4.5k seems a lot bearing in mind I'd be wise to get the big 15k (I think) service done and new chain and sprockets. Even at non main dealer I'm prob looking at another 500 quid so 4.5k possibly bit steep?
That sound bout right, or am I being tight lol!!??

If you buy a TL, chances are you will fall in love with it and spend an absolute fortune fixing all the silly little things that Suzuki and previous owners have done to it.
They are a fantastic bike, with real character.
Suzuki got a lot right with these bikes and with some simple, some expensive and some free modifications they are a hoot to ride.
There are plenty of good people on this forum who know all there is to know about onwing and improving them and most of them are happy to pass on their hard earned knowledge.
Mine has cost plenty, but I love it and will never sell as long as I can ride.
