Hey, I'm new so please bear with me. I have decided to do the mod pioneered by doug, however I have a few questions/concerns. I messaged doug, but I haven't heard from him and I don't know if he's on much anymore. I've been browsing the forums on both sites for hours but I'm not getting the info/clarity I need. This mostly concerns the spring swap. I have ordered a MAL-601 shock.

-please confirm 2.25 inch ID spring is necessary.
-please confirm the stock spring on the MAL-601 is 5".
-can I avoid the need to have another spring seat made by using a 5" spring that is of the correct lb-in rating?
-what are good sources to have the spring seat made if I end up needing it?
-is there a link to or does someone have a drawing/schematic of the mattyj brackets that eliminate the cutting?

2.25" is necessary so the spring doesn't rub on the body of shock.
The stock spring is 5.5" tall and rated for 800lbs.
Some guys have tried just using the 5.5" - 800lb spring if they are light enough.
I found a local machinist to make it buy he wanted 150 bux.
I don't know of a bracket drawing. That would be nice because cutting my frame is not something I'll do without some serious thought.

this has come at the right time

A mate of mine has one of these shocks sat here at mine to pick up when he comes over from holland

Now this spring seat does anyone have a drawing? so I can ask my bro to make one

Or message cham to see what he used when he fitted the cb900f hornet shock.
I think he used the perch off another shock
