..,Bobs running rough and high 3k idle revs seems to be caused by a vacuum leak. ...
Forgot to mention that I cranked the Idle Adjustment Screw way up to keep it from stalling. That's why it's idling at 3k. Just back it down some to normalize it. Should idle at 1100 RPMs.

NOTE: Will likely stall out after 30 seconds or so.

Well I couldn't get it to stay running below that, and I needed to get it up to temp quickly. I'm hoping it's just a stuck valve, because otherwise it's the rings.

Let's not forget about the condition of the pistons and trumpets... and those are just the bits we can see. Who knows what the rest of the guts look like.

Tank is still under construction. A day to let the cleaner work a day to de rust and now 5 days to let the epoxy cure before I can fill with gas. Think the tank leak was still their because the new gasket was in the wrong order it was against the pump plate mating surface and not between the tank flange and oem gasket. Either way ive got a tube of seal all if it doeant cooperate and I wont tolerate a leak. Still need to get it on a rear stand again and loosen the chain up.
I also got replacement m5 x .8 screws for the air filter and the air box

Inside of that tank is looking real good. Not sure what you meant by the seal orientation being off. It can only mount one way. Wish you had snapped an image of it.

You can swing by and grab my rear stand if you need one.

Tanks fixed redid the gasket filling in the entire flange area torqued all bolts to factory spec. got new fuel injection hose and redid the fuel lines as well bike still idles like shit but atleast no leaking gas. Reseated the throttle bodies and checked for vac leaks but no luck still idles chunky and wants to stall. Rode it around the yard and had to keep applying a little throttle to keep it from stalling. My next step is to try to balance the throttle bodies and set the tps.

Still runs like crap!! What the heck could it be. Id rather not tear into the throttle bodies but I may need to as it ran way better before it got cleaned up. Any recommendations. I took it out for a short ride had to leave the idle set around 2500 so it didnt stall out when I came to a stop it idled at 3k it seems to pause for a second on throttle then takes off. Holds speed fine and gets up to speed quickly but it doesnt sound right. Its got a terrible exhaust leak now as well could that be contributing to the problems? No smoking. No unburnt fuel smell from the exhaust

Looks like the tps is way out of wack. The bar stays at the bottom all the time in dealer mode. Reads c00

Interesting. Any more updates?

I had the TPS dead center when I adjusted it the first time. I must have knocked it about slightly when I tore it back apart to replace the Coolant Tube seal. Even still, mine was way off when I got Clyde, and he ran fine, so I'm guess it didn't have much affect on the idle after you readjusted it?

The TBs were also synced, albeit with a homemade vacuum gauge. Same setup I synced mine with. I was a bit sloppy with it though, so certainly worth double checking with a proper gauge if you've got one.

As far as the TBs go, the only thing I can even remotely think of that could be wrong is that maybe I swapped the wrong size jets. For example, the .08 jet may be where the .05 jet should be. I was pretty careful though, so it's a long shot. I can't think of anything else it could be. You're more than welcome to tear the TBs back apart if you want, but likely a waste of time. Those things were so crudded up when I took them apart.... I'm not even sure how fuel was getting through them.

As far as the exhaust leak goes... you're missing the donut seal from the down tube. I mentioned this the day you picked it up. Previous owner had the entire exhaust system loose in order to bolt on the right canister (due to the twisted sub frame). When I readjusted the pipes the donut seal came out in pieces. Cheap fix.

NOTE: I don't have phone or internet anymore, but I will still monitor this when I can.
