I have fitted an R swinger on to my S all went well apart from the side stand!

when its up it touches the bottom bracing bar!!

I have checked all measurements and fitment and all is well :O

anyone had this issue when fitting an R swinger on an S?

couple of pics here click to enlarge

could the problem be that this stop has worn so the stand is going further up ? I could easily weld a blob on it to extend it!

Stu_m, I'm fairly sure the US spec side stand will cure that problem. The US side stand bends away from the swinger more than the Euro stand.

If you can't find one over there, I have an extra one.
thanks for the reply Six5

Its funny you say that one of the pics I have seen of the R arm on the S you can clearly see the side stand is bent away slightly but mine is dead straight!!

Does the R stand fit I notice that bends away too

The US spec R sidestand has a bend that is even more pronounced than the S stand. However, I don't know if it mounts up to the S bracket OK. :O I'll have to do side-by-side comparison when I get home.

In the meantime, here is a photo for reference. This is the US spec TLS sidestand.

(OK...... my browser won't let me post the image link. :banghead Stay tuned.....)
I guess the side stand is the same as the one on the bike in your signature :laugh

you can see that it is bent out!

upon looking on Ebay for a side stand for either an S or an R the uk spec ones are infact straight on both!! I wonder if the R one is slightly shorter

Also the R stand has a different bracket too you can see it from pics on Ebay
Stu,

While Six5 finds his better picture, I found a pic on my phone that will give you an idea.

That is my 97 s with stock stand. It appears to have a much larger foot and a fairly noticeable curve away from the arm.

We have a winner! http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=360664483764

$15 bracket included to my door. Give me the word and I'll snag it.

thanks for the pic and the links :thumbup

do you know how much postage would be to the uk ?

looking at pics of an R the side stand mounts in the same place as an S so I wonder if the uk spec stand would fit fine with clearance as I can get one locally for £15 all I would need to do is fit the R stand to the S bracket
Stu,

I can show you a really close up of my bracket and we can guess if it will fit. I think about $25 is the cheapest to the uk. I can drop by the post office and find out but they will be closed for holiday. It might be a little pricey but for less than ten pounds I can get the whole US assembly to me then it's just about getting it to you in the most cost effective manner.
the R stand will go on to the S bracket but the R bracket wont fit the S bike the mounting on the frame is different

I have just had a mate measure his R stand and I will measure mine and if the R is shorter then I will go for the local one

If not then I will give you a shout and sort something out with you :thumbup

I have until next march to sort something so no rush yet :laugh

big thanks though :thumbup
I cant quite remember if I ground a piece out of my s stand foot to clear arm Stu, if needed,i have a r side stand that you can have cheap but I don't think its the bent type mate.
I might take you up on that offer cham

although thinking about it I could just cut and weld my stand?

that was my thinking. cut it about ten degrees out halfway down. file the foot end flat and put a bead around. problem solved

Stu its different frames and that sounds like different types of parts were used.
But I am going to fit an R arm.

Question. .....does the arm also tighten up the chain as you do up the nut.
:cheers
No Kenny what I mean is the US side stand on the S kicks out but the UK/EU one is straight!!
