Putting TLS forks onto a Suzuki Gs1200ss.

Hello All,

I hope everything is going well.

I have a spare parts TL1000S, which includes an entire front end.
I would like to get the forks, fender, rotors and wheel onto my Suzuki gs1200ss.
I love my gs1200ss but it would look better with some USD forks.

I believe I need to get a custom triple clamp made to make this happen.

Ive found various companies on the net who can do this. Has anyone had a good
experience with one of these companies? Can anyone recommend a company to me?

As always your help is appreciated.

Paul.

Are you sure on a stepped yoke? Not everyone likes the way they look. How do the TL triples go with the bike, are they a good fit? Length of the stem, lockstops, etc?

Hello Loki- TLR,
The reason for the stepped yoke to to compensate for the fact that the TL forks are quite a bit shorter than the
GS forks. I want to maintain the factory rake/trail/wheelbase ( educating myself on this as we speak ).
But, always open to any good ideas. This swapping business is new to me.

Much appreciated.
A stepped yoke is one way to go. There might also be fork extensions around. Looks tidier probably.

Might be a good idea to check what you can first. How the TL yokes will fit. Maybe they aren't as 'tall' above the headstock as the OEM yokes.

Hey Loki-TLR , do you have an opinion on fork extentions?
These would make life easier. I do wonder if they would compromise the stuctual integrity of the fork?

Personally no experience with them. The join between both parts seem to be fairly substantial though, compared to lets say a weld. They've been around for years too so the seller should know if they're worth having.

A stepped yoke would be loaded a bit weird under braking too. Creating a little torque on the stem because of the step.

So neither are ideal but both are probably good enough. Especially on a streetbike where loads are generally lower and less frequent then a racebike. It's 'just' a matter of figuring out which makes most sense in your specific application..
