Hi all,
A few years ago I got a TLS from a friend for a bargain price, gave it a rattle can spray job, did the minimum to get it on the road and used it for travelling back and forward to work last winter(With Dunlop GP racers, terrifying in sub zero temperatures/rain/salt:coocooI)I have a pretty trick GSXR (built before wife/marriage/house/kid :laugh) so the poor TLS got no love. A month ago I sold my old motocross bike on ebay and had the money sitting in my paypal account (can you see whats coming?) and a set of K4 forks appeared on Ebay cheap, won them, then I was onto Sam for his conversion kit, then it was radial calipers followed by braided lines, GSXR clocks, R6 shock, radial master cylinder, new headlight etc etc. Now I am feeling a bit guilty about spending the cash on the old TLS that was probably worth very little, a couple of my mates think I am mad but I do really enjoy riding it, and its kind of nice that its flawed in many ways as people don't know what to expect with them I have found.
Anyway you guys are my last hope to tell me, 'good on you they are worth saving':thumbup

The explanation is right there: "my mates think I am mad but I do really enjoy riding it".

its staggering how many people dont understand the love for a TL, despite its tendency to bleed your wallet dry...
Keep it and keep on spending, thats what im doing!
It has begun. You are doomed... :scared
Ha ha, thanks guys, I can't leave things alone anyway it was only a matter of time! Its a great forum and a mine of information, whenever I check the frequent to mods section it makes me smile, it basically contains all the info to change every part other than the frame from standard so you are never stuck for the next thing to do! Will post up some pics etc when the bike rebuild begins in the new year :)

You really need to read some of Sams threads ....... Don't think there is anything on a S he hasn't modified !:hail

Then engines are just so much fun that we can forgive the chassis dynamics and old, iffy eletricals ..... Well, until something new and shiny appears for sale! then it's mod, mod and more modding! :)
dunno if i did the right thing or not today... Had a phone call out of the blue about a TLR fighter that a local dealership had taken in part ex on a ducati... Bought it on the spot for £900!
Now to tell the Mrs....:rotfl

And now for the "nuts in a sling" mod.......
Your asking a bunch of TL junkies if you should fix up a TL. Hey, any time u have buyers remorse on some tl parts just give us a heads up and well reassure u. If you fix up a tl as an investment it gonna be a loosing venture. We do it for the love, not the practicality. I was looking at a members build the other day. A TLS built from the ground up. They probably spent $4000 us on parts, paint, and refurb not to mention time. To spend $4000 on a bike you couldn't get $2500 for is an act of love, not practicality. Just know that whatever you do to it is for you to enjoy and you will spend more than you can even begin to resell it for. I'll never sell mine unless its to save my kids life or something so any money I spend (notice I didn't say invest) I will use for as long as the bike is in one piece.
