A couple of weeks ago, I went out to Oran Park raceway. It's about 1 hour from Sydney. The track has been around for about 35-40 years, and has held a few Australian Grand Prix races over the years.

The weather was shite - cold, wet, miserable. But I did take some pics. I use a Canon EOS 300D, 90-300 lens, basically on auto focus & shoot.

Anyways, some pics...
The 1st car is an Elfin MS7. Basically an Aussie version of the US CanAm cars. It has a small block injected 308 Holden engine, 600 hp with a Hewland Box. This car was raced by Vern Schuppan - winner of the Lemans 24hr with porsche quite a few years back. Is definately one of our quickest 2 or 3 Sports cars ever made.

Next is my mates Lotus 15. A genuine article. Raced in England, Europe in mid 60's before being wrecked. Came to Australia as a project & the result is what you see here. 1500cc Ford engine, box, morris minor diff. A great little car.

A 1968 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750. Very nice, sounds great & looks the part in the Gulf colours.

The next are two of Australia's most popular car of the 60's. 1964 EH holdens. Heavy, cumbersome, noisy but great to watch.

1974 Birrana F2. Pretty little car, quite quick but a bit fragile. Most ran with 1600cc twin cam fords, Alfa or 1600cc pushrod Datsun engines.

1965 Elfin Mono. Twin Cam ford, very very quick & very very nice. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v111/bradgoulding/Mono.jpg

The aqua coloured car is a 1967 Brabham, powered by a 3.5litre Buick. Was built for Indy, but I dont know if this one ever raced there. The other car is a 1968 Elfin 600. Another TC ford, this car raced in Asia mostly with a lot of success.

1972 Matich A50 Formula 5000. Built by Frank Matich, this car went to America in 1973 or 4 & raced against the Formula 5000's there. Had some success there, but won 2 or 3 Aussie GP's in the mid 70's. 5.0 litre injected small block chev.

1968 Lotus 49. Driven by Graham Hill, Jo Bonnier & Richard Atwood, this car was part of the team that wone the 1968 world F1 Championship by Hill. 3 litre Cosworth DFV V8.

1959 Lotus 16. 2litre 4 cyl Coventry Climax FPF engine. These last 2 cars are owned by the late John Dawson Damer.

It is. And the funny thing is, although the car is worth a motza, the guy who owns it walks around with the arse out of his pants..
