Oil burner, checklist?

My 97 TL1000S runs great, does not leak but has burned 1 liter oil since the last change one year ago.

What are the typical culprits/things to check on TL1000´s at excessive oil use?

Look around the clutch pusrod seal. Also, does the oil look "milky?" If so, it could be the water pump/oil seal.

What kind of crankcase ventilation system is on it?

Especially the '97 had a very rudimentary system. This could lead to excess crankcase oil mist in the airbox. In turn being burned and causing problems. Possibly stuck piston rings. Which could then lead to more crankcase pressure and more oil mist.

If it's got a plastic pipe from the top of the crankcase to the airbox, then it's the original '97 setup. Ideally it would have a revised setup. This would include a rear cam cover with a spigot. The hose would run to a black plastic oil separator below the airbox. This separator would also be connected to the crankcase and the airbox.

Oil looks used but no discoloration and nothing rund the pushrod seal, beginning to think I overfillled at last change.

I think it's bog standard 97.
The only thing changed on engine is the cooling that I did the usual rebuild/route on including moving the thermostat. So thanks and I'll look into that.
