I couldn't hear anything above the roar of the mighty TL and always ride with earplugs. Besides...you can still hear the things that matter, like squeeling brakes and horns. I used to commute with music from my ipod and on the backroads. I found though that my riding style reflcted the music being played. Therefore I couldn't ride in traffic with Metallica as I'd start riding pissed off and was liable to kill myself. I found that techno/trance music works well for me as I don't concentrate on the music and trying to sing along and it would get me into a good rythm. Of course I don't ride on the street anymore so that's all behind me for now.
I use the shure e2c headphones. they act as earplugs and phones at the same time. This way I don't have to turn the music up too loud and can still hear other things as well. don't want to destroy the hearing you know.
Never tried music. Tried earplugs and almost killed myself.:rant After coming in to hot for three turns in a row I pulled over and threw them in the woods. I NEED to hear EVERYTHING! wind noise, motor, exhaust, brakes, intake, chain whine, ect..
God bless the people who can ride FAST while enjoying a kick ass tune.:hail I wish to do it someday. I can't. I need ALL my sence's and focus to ride. Then again I take my music very seriously. Which means it gets my undivided attention. I don't down really own any "backround music"
I still say its :coocoo to shell out $800 for a full system only to were earplugs. It's like watching porno with a garbage can over your head.
I always wear ear plugs, hearing damage results from wind noise otherwise + it makes the bike sound better and I think better allows me to hear stuff around me as it filters out a lot of background (wind) noise that would otherwise cover up everthing else.
The exhaust note was the first thing I noticed when I rode with ear plugs for the 3 minites it lasted. It does make it sound a LITTLE deeper and more mellow with plugs in. But you loose that bit of raspyness on the top end of those yoshis barking at 9 grand.:devious I do belive I need to hear that. Oh christ, now I have to go rub one out.:laugh
I to the music of Vtwin power and can't seem to get enough would even like to ride without helmet on ocaision like when looking for that strange sound that is interfearing with the beutiful music...but that's just me...
