Today, I drained the oil ready for some fresh stuff. At first, I thought that I'd undone the wrong nut - about 1 cup of water came pissing out, followed by mayo.

What's likely to be the most likley candidate?

Paul.

That's noooo good. :no

First check if the weep hole that can be seen from the front of the right engine cover and make sure it's not clogged. If the ceramic coolant seal behind the water pump goes bad, coolant should sip out through that weep hole, but if it's blocked, it can press through the oil seal behind the coolant seal and press it into the engine instead.

Check the weep hole first, and if it's clogged, replace your water pump seals, both the coolant and the oil one.

Thanks Octofinger,
I've just removed the water pump impeller and the seal is completely oval. No chance of that sealing.
