I have a 01 TL1000R. My fuel tank has to be replace along with the fuel filter unit. Any suggestion on where I can find a tank. Been looking on Ebay but no luck.

What other year is the tank compatible with? Appreciate the help.

A TLR fuel tank of any model year will fit.
Appreciate the feedback. I was not aware of that.
It is still slim picking out there for a decent tank off ebay. Just need to be patient.
Looks like you can still order new OEM tanks from Rocky Mountain ATV. Will set you back a pretty penny though.

I am also on the lookout for new TL fuel tanks. I was curious, so I started a chat session with RockyMountainATVMC.

The sales guy was quite helpful in explaining how the system works. He said I need to put the product in my cart to see the status of it.
So then, I put all four tanks for the 2001 TLR model year in my "cart" on the RMATV website. They all showed as "backordered." No surprise there.

As expected, the meat of our conversation went like this......

  1. RMATV: They haven't been ordered [before]. So we can still check for an order to see if we can get them in stock in most cases. But they haven't been confirmed as discontinued.
  2. Me: If you could check that would be great. However, I'm not holding my breath.... :)
  3. RMATV: For sure, but I can't just check them, an order has to be placed for them, and we will check through the vendors and manufactures to see if we can get them and either get an ETA date, or discontinue them.
You can place the order for them, but you won't be charged till the item can ship, so we can cancel and delete the payment without any charge.
  4. Me: I understand, but I will pass on ordering them. I have been surfing for new TL tanks for years, and I know they are extremely rare these days.

Still, if anyone wants to follow through with this listing for new TLR fuel tanks, and actually order one, please let us know how it goes.

I understand your hesitancy. I will tell you this...I have my 2000 TLS and an 82 Virago and I have always received parts ordered from RMATV that indicated "backordered". Sometimes it took a week, sometimes it took a couple of months, but they always shipped. When the item states that it has been discontinued or not available, you can bet that part is history. Good luck with your search. If I run across one I will definitely message you. From your icon, I assume you're looking for one in yellow?

Smokinn85,
Thanks for your endorsement of RMATV. It is good to know they do what they say they'll do. (y)

Actually, I'm not in dire need of a tank, but I'm always on the lookout for a clean blue/white 2001 TLR tank. That would complete my blue/white body panel set. I bought my "R" as a blu/wht model but the tank, nose, and tail were in rough shape. I stumbled upon some clean Yellow panels and tank, so I pieced together some other parts and converted it. The color scheme is certainly not OEM, but it has grown on me. Still, I toy with option to go back to the Blue & White some day.

Thanks for your support. ;)

....
Yes, I have seen those TLR tanks.

At the going rate for used items of that quality, the price of a new tank (if it is available) is not that bad.

I appreciate your effort. :)
New tanks in 2 different colour schemes are listed as available on Fowlers website ( uk).
The K2 models. W,X and Y model tanks discontinued ( I'm sure they're all the same). They aren't cheap, but prices for used ones are rising.
