K&N Oil Filter

Doing an oil and filter change this weekend as one of the last things to be done on my winter strip and rebuild project (pics coming soon) Is there a real benefit to fitting a K&N oil filter over a standard one?

Rich,

I have one on my bike. It was an extra couple bucks. Comes shrink wrapped from the factory so peace of mind no little yucky fell in it during transport. Just my two cents.
Yeh tbh they're only a couple of quid dearer than standard over here too, think I'm just going to order one

I have just fitted one to mine

the added benefit of a hex bolt on the end is a bonus :laugh

they are supposed to be better filtration and higher flow
:stupid Suzuki specs two full turns tight on the oil filter and that's not easy to do normally. It's real easy with that nut. Besides, the K&N filters down to under 20 microns IIRC and that's what you want in a good filter. :thumbup

I am thinking of chainging to a K&N filter as well. What is the Part # on the K&N oil filter?
I have just fitted my second K&N oil filter.
No problems at all.
Well, you're in luck. I needed a break from work so I looked it up. KN-138 is what you want. Unless of course you want a bit of flashy chrome, then go with KN-138C. :banana
Thanks 1crock for the info. I would have look it up but I am not home but on my tablet at the coffee shop, I am not that good at using it for searcing on line, plus the WIFI connection is slow, it is much easier with a computer, mouse and keyboard, this way I will put it into my notes for bike stuff.

If theyre anything like their air filters it wont make any difference at all.....K&N are one of THE most overrated things out there!....

I use the HP4 and it is available, on the shelf, at Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts. I change my oil after every race so this filter is not on the car for prolonged periods of time. I recentlly used a Wix filter just to see how it did. Not bad. I just prefer using the HP$ because I have always used them. And...the ALMS C6.R corvettes use them so they can't be all that bad. The Fram HP series is just fine to use.
WIX makes a very good filter. :thumbup
Not seen or heard of Wix and never seen a Fram Hp filter for a bike .:confused
