just asking as its pissing it down and my lads took it to work with no problems i.e charging issues/lights and no oil leaks either:devious
but pulled in and the immobiliser has played up taking a while to kick in but the bike has no rear hugger and the wiring for the immobiliser is all at the back not waterproofed im sure:dowhat:dowhat it reset itself properly after 10 mins so hopefully I wont get a 6am phonecall again:banghead
so is it defo a must have? I reckon so!!!!! or a lot of waterproofing coming on !!!
its certainly a challenge this bike!!!!:laugh:laugh:laugh:laugh:laugh

Hi guys, I'm about to remove my rear hugger, open to offers.

Err. I think you want a different forum for that sort of thing... :lol
Well, my S doesn't have a front damper or a rear hugger, so I can tell you that neither are ESSENTIAL.
But in that logic neither is a seat, or blinkers, or a windscreen, or an overflow bottle, or brakes :laugh , etc.

That being said, I am DESPERATELY looking for an S hugger that isn't effin $200. Anyone ( Ringy Ding :hail ) wanna cast me theirs and send it my way? :devious

Like Gazza said, it keeps crap from being flung towards the goods. If you are doing, say, 100mph... A little rock in the threads could be flung into the rear area at that same velocity. On an S, the R/R wiring would be in plain sight. 100mph rock vs. the shitty wiring in the TL harnesses, guess who wins?

Edit: Oh and I have no immobilizer or security for that matter. Did the 97S come with any "security" features ???

Not essential, but they do serve a purpose.

And they look nice too IMWO.

I made mine for free :D

Too bad your R hugger wouldn't fit my S or I'd offer you 500X what you paid for it. :laugh

It would fit, you'd need to grind the welds off to remove it then weld it to your swinger.
It would fit
I've been saying that for years, but my girl just doesn't buy it. :laugh

Maybe I meant to say it wouldn't fit without modification. I'm going to find something off fleabay for cheap and force it...
I suspect something like this would fit with relative little modification.

Your local suppliers or fleece-bay will doubtless provide something cheaper.
Belay that. I'm having my own senior moment. Considering I used to own one I seem to have forgotten that the swing arm bracing is the other way up to the TL.

This might be a bit better.
