That the base diameter of the front cylinder ('97 TLS) is 108mm, and the rear is 106mm.

Is this the same on '98- TLS and TLR motors?, and whatever reason could be there for suzuki to have a difference in here.
Can it be that there is not much 'flesh' left near the bottom of the rear cylinder..


Not that it is of great concern, but I'm in some kind of crazy winter project which gets me wondering about this apparent nonsense.

Sorry, but I don't have any cases lying around right now. I'd have to strip my running motor. Anyone with a stripped down motor?

Sorry, the only cylinders I have out are '97.

But that certainly is interesting.
