looks like it's bullshit you could hear the lock setting. at least the wooden model doesn't show there is any struckture that would make it possible to hear the lock setting each disk.
You guys check out any of his other videos? I particularly liked the marble adding machine as well as his worm drive jig for cutting the corners for his boxes.
When I was a kid, I used to open master locks by putting them up to my ear and slowly turning the dial. The soft click could be heard when the disc passed by the right spot.
Dunno if this works any more, perhaps the locks are improved, or, more likely, my hearing is not what it was when I was 16 :laugh
Interesting to see how the locks work. Never knew that.
Safebreakers used to sandpaper their fingertips for more feel.
