Started the bike today & there is a crazy rattle which sounds like it is coming from the lower part of the engine. Rattle is heard when at 2000 RPM. Don't have any idea what this is and any help would be greatly appreciated.:O
Symptoms are a little vague and not too much data...Is the noise only at 2K RPM or does it vary with RPM? Does it vary with load? Can you hear while riding or only at idle or only with the stand down? If the noise is only at 2K RPM and doesn't change with engine RPM or load or road speed I would look for a resonating loose part. Do the bolt retorque according to the manual and see if it goes away...
get some one to run the bike at 2000 for you . get a long screwdriver or a bit of thin wood etc . place one end against your ear and the other against the motor. move it around and it will isolate the source . the noise will be different thru you "stethoscope" but you can track it down. get back with the actual location and someone will know.
pay special attention to the front cam cover. it may be a cam bucket.
check the cam chain tunnels (loose chain) bottom of the barrells. (big end)
