Electrical Assistance Needed ... 1997 TL1000s

1122 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  snowblind
I had stored my bike inside, climate controlled. Put in a new battery, fully charged, turned the key. All ignition lights came on. Turned the key off. A little later turned the key on again....NOTHING, nada, no lights, no fuel pump, nothing at all. Like there was no battery in it.

I assume I blew a fuse. Checked the mains, they test fine. I know there are several other key fuses, like side stand, etc. Anyone have a list and location of these other fuses? I looked in the box beneath the dash, they are fine.

Any help is appreciated.

Check the large gang connectors on the left side up near the headlight. Look for green corrosion and clean it up if present.

Fixed it for you, Angry. Since it is a TLS.....

Beppe, also check the starter relay connector. It is known for causing such symptoms. If the terminals are overheated or corroded, it is likely the problem. It is under the seat, behind the tank.
Load test the battery first. Make sure it is good.

Though the S was on the left and the R was on the right. Might have to reroute my wiring harness then.
