What is the difference between these motors?
Is it just cams + gearing, or are the comp ratios or valve sizes different?

Reason i ask is that my 97 TLS is making a lot of rumbling from the gearbox,
and now a head gasket has blown, so maybe I could buy a later motor & stick
the (perfectly good) top end parts on it? I saw a Raptor & also KLV engine on
ebay, but wondered if they're interchangable...

Thanks for any advice :O

between a TL and DL the cams, CR, valve size, TB size, crankcases, crank, trans ratios, engine mount points and probably a lot of other things are different. Don't know about the raptor, but I think its much closer to a TL motor.

yes, raptor motors are very close to 98+ TLS motors. Only the mapping and exhaust system is different if i'm not mistaken...

Wouldn't it be easier to say "everything"? :laugh

if it has a bolt on clutch cover separate from the side case, i'd use it!!

engine mountings are slightly different on the main cases on the SV/DL/KLV, but the raptor motor is the TL version.
