I was occasionally getting a noise like a dry bearing from my alternator cover and I noticed my volts would drop at the same time.I suspected the one-way clutch was locking up. When I stripped it down I found the one-way bearing was worn, I also found a large crack across the face of the gear, there is also a small chip out of the tooth where the crack starts but it wasn't in the area or stuck to the sump plug magnet. Lucky it didn't go all the way and break off, you can actually see through at the start( LH) side. Replaced it and alls good.
