I been looking at getting my bike re-spray for a little while, and decided a little while ago to now get it done in the new year, all i am after is a basic gloss black, but to a hogh looking standard. Does anyone know what kind of cost i would be looking at for this. Its for a 'S' version but with lowers on her.

If anyone knows of any local places to myself 'portsmouth/southampton' area i be greatful for any links or addys.

This is one I can help with!
Like everything really, you get what you pay for. However, the place I use for my custom paint work does very high standard work at a very reasonable price. To give you an idea, full custom paint (fenders, tank, etc) on my cruiser came to about £700. This was for old skool metal flake flames, outlined, on a candy apple base (difficult), finished with a lot of clear coats to a glass-like finish (far exceeding anything you will see oem). The quality of paint and work is unsurpassable and they also do award-winning airbrush work, if you so desire (very expensive).
However, you will not need anything like this amount of work (from what you say) so it should be considerably cheaper. Here is the name and address:

Customise Perfection
10 Olderbridge Road , Southampton , Hampshire SO15 0NJ
Tel: 023-8066-7992

I suggest you call, or better still, go down there (in the Redbridge/Nursling area) and talk to them. They are specialists and very helpful.

Nice one, thanks loads Doc, shall try to pop there way and see what they can do, can't say i want that kinda of custom job like yours, but i would like it to last, and ware well.

Thanks for your time to reply, at least i can try somewhere now, had another m8, from the suzuki club who can help also, he very cheap, but i like to keep my options open for it, as i am one of these ppl that say its time, and want it within the week lol. Just booked my PCIII for 3rd and a full service for friday. So i can make sure all is well :) (No being cruel) but i hate to have the same happen like yours did. Man i felt for you there. :(

i would budget for around 700 quid for a decent job

i paid 900 quid for a telephonica paint job on a gsxr 600 that i had the paintwork was excellent and it lasted well got the odd scratch here and there but thats nothing new

oh and if you can get it done over winter and dont fit it too your bike for about 6 weeks after you get the panels back

if you dont know paint gets harder with time i made the mistake and fitted them straight away while the paint was still soft :banghead and marked the paint where the fairing bolts went :coocoo

my gsxr 1100 (in the sig pic!) cost £230 (mated rates) really he said it should have cost about £500. 3 stage paint too - undercoat, then white, then translucent green. that was at a garage which sprays damaged Mercs........so it was a v.good job!! i should imagine a solid glossy black would be slightly cheaper.

so i'd bank on £4-500 for a decent job.
