Confused about first registration date in UK

Hello, dearest TL owners!
I'm new TL rider from Lithuania - recently bought TL1000SX 99' which was imported from UK thus has never been registered in my country. In a few days I am going to register the bike, insure it, have the mot done. Thing is, i'm confused about first registration date. I checked the VIN number at https://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/motorcycles/about/extras/vin-checker/ and it clearly says the bike is 1999 TL1000SX and it was imported to UK same year it was manufactured. Company which I bought tiller also said bike is 99' but on the export papers it is written 1998 though model is SX.
Bike still has UK number plate on it so I checked it here: https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/enquiry?execution=e1s2 - info from this site says that bike has been first registered in UK 01 08 1998. So the question is simple, how the **ck is it possible? Is there any way the mistake has been done entering data while registering the bike? Has anyone from UK faced such problem? Or maybe anybody has any thoughts about that? One more question, is there any noticeable differences between 98' and 99' tillers so I could determine what year ir really is? I know it may sound awkward but for the peace of mind I need to figure all this out. Many thanks for your time!

theres nothing wrong with it

uk registrations ran from 1st August so that bike was registered on the year change

even though its registered in 98 it can be classed as a 99 model

take a look here

Oh I would just like to point out that in 1999 they changed the registration process so a new one came out every 6 months so they could start the new 50 year registration in 2001 ;)
Mine is a 99 SX model and I bought it on the 1st of august 1998.
Some of the updated models were over here early it seems.

thats because anything after the 1st of august is classed as a 99 model

they wasnt here early its the way registration works!

You say that, but I had a choice of an earlier one in red (98sw) or a 99sx in black,
They would have both been registered on the 1st of august, the red one would still have been an sw
I went for the black one becuse it had all the later updates. Clutch and gearbox output shaft to name a couple, also the sw had the old style fairing stickers, mine had the new squarer ones
the red one will have more then likely been an old stock one and the black a new one

this is where it goes tits up on ordering parts on some vehicles when its a changeover year

the black one you got will have been the updated model ready for registration on the 1st they wouldn't of allowed you to get it before the 1st the W will have been old stock sold with the rest on the 1st with the rest
Also the red one would have been faster.lol
