Well, by default the "best way" to check straightness is to have it done by a pro.

On the other hand, there must be plenty of frames on the road that are slightly "tweaked" one way or the other.

There are a lot of options on the web...

These guys may be able to provide some insight....

This company considers these to be the critical parameters.
The mega-M.A.X. System measures the following critical dimensions of your mototcycle:

  • Camber Angle
  • Steering Head Angle
  • Distance from the Swingarm Pivot to the Steering Axis
  • Height of the Steering Head, relative to the Swingarm Pivot
  • Tail Offset
  • Rear Wheel Offset
  • Distortion of the Swingarm
  • Alignment of the Swingarm
Once the motorcycle is measured, you'll be provided with a clear, concise, easy to read print out of the results. The print out shows at a glance how close each critical measurement is to the factory specifications."

Two equally bents forks, say 2 degrees right, would give a nasty camber angle...
I've checked and straightened a few frames in my time

you need a motor and a swingarm and a rear wheel unless you have access to a digitised probe measuring tool.

If there was enough interest I could do a thread .
Maidstone Motoliner; just up the road from me and a fantastic reputation for just such a thing :)
motoliner still needs motor arm and rear wheel
Were they straight from the factory??
And if it's not cracked it's probably near spec
Thanks for all the replies guys

guess its not as easy as getting a tape measure out then!

its a bare frame so no motor in it

and I'm going to give it a miss as its not HPI clear its been written off with bodywork damage which isnt a problem with the bodywork but it is with the frame I want a clear one
Ive got a nice straight R frame Stu.:devious
:laugh

It HAS to be an S ;)
