Putting the bike back together, done carb balance, tps adjustment, throttle stop gap but the idle is still up and down? and it smells really rich out of the cans, can i adjust the fuel/air ratio anywhere?

nope you will need a power commander or a yosh box or similar to do that

have you got a tre fitted? it could be messing with the idle if its not a smart tre
smart tre and pc111 fitted :) Just hooked up the pc11 to the laptop to check the map and it was blank ??? so i've sent a map to it, runs better but not perfect. Interestingly, when its idling and I pull the clutch in the idle rises to around 1500 and smooths out...... Seems strange

when It's back on the road I'm going to Motrac down the road from me for a dyno session so hopefully they should sort all this out

I would be tempted to pull your tre off

pulling the clutch in smoothes the idle if the tre is causing the rough idle as I found out on my S
I'll try that tomorrow Stu, Hoping it's that simple tbh. I only bought it in July, it's an Ivans one too so it'll be going straight back for replacement!

Since you have a functional power commander with a laptop, you can put the A/F mixture wherever you want it by simply editing the map values that impact the idle.

However, FIRST, make sure the engine is up to operating temp - above 80C.

When the clutch lever is pulled in, the ECM ADDS fuel to the mix below ~3200 rpm when in gear.

When the gear selector is in NEUTRAL, if the idle is changing by simply pulling the clutch lever in, then that tells you that the ECM thinks it is still in gear. Therefore, it may be that the TRE is not a "smart" type (but Ivan's should be), or maybe it is a Smart TRE but has failed in some manner. :O A "Smart TRE" will allow the ECM to know when the tranny is in neutral.

When the transmission is in neutral, the position of the clutch lever should not impact the idle speed - with the caveat that the clutch does release some transmission load from the engine, so that difference may be heard. :coocoo
