Hi guys,

I'm refitting my rebuilded engine (done by a mechanic)
I've got everything connected, when I switch on the ignition and press the start button the fuel pump is working but no sign of life from the starter engine.

I put the bike in dealer mode and got these fault codes:
C11 Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP sensor)
C12 Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP sensor)

I double checked the connectors, they seem fine, don't know what to do next :confused, so was hoping anyone can help me out here.

The ECU is getting the signal from the starter button and is expecting the engine to be rotating and expects the crank and cam sensor signals.

The C11 & C12 is a symptom of the engine not rotating, not the cause of it.

It could be a faulty starter motor, more likely a faulty starter relay. Can you hear the starter solenoid clicking in?

The fact that you get the C11 & C12 means the clutch switch circuit and the starter button are working ok. It's just the engine isn't rotating and triggering the sensors.

Awesome reply, thanks.
I'm pretty sure it isnt the starter motor, the engine just got rebuild.
I think its the starter relay, I don't hear the solenoid clicking in.
Plus the fact the previous owner messed with the starter relay already, non original wires, no plug connector.
So you think buying a new starter relay would fix the problem?

Buying a new relay might fix the problem.

Cutting the plug off and connecting the wires directly is a common mod as the OEM connections can sometimes be a source of trouble.

I'd start by checking the modified wiring and making sure the solanoid coil wires are connected properly.

You can also bypass the relay and put 12 volts directly to the starter and see if it cranks. If it does then you know the starter is good and the problem lies in the relay or wiring.
