I went on an overnight backpack this weekend to the Bridge to Nowhere up Azusa Canyon's East Fork. Supposedly they started building this road back in 1935-36' and had a major flood that washer out the road before completion leaving only a bridge that dead ended into a mountain. I wish I had more pics but my camera died at the bridge. Its an awesome hike, lots of river crossings and not many people after the first 1/2 mile or so. (lazy river loungers).

The bridge is a huge concrete archway. Its several hundred feet high. They do bungee jumping from it on the weekends.

You can see the arches in the shadow.

PS: Can anyone identify the snake?

That's a gopher snake. They're harmless. We used to catch them when I was a kid living in the Lancaster/Palmdale area. They hiss once in awhile, but no venom.
