Brake lines ... Again ... Again

Race two line or over the fender/mudguard three line. Any reason why we need to have the over the fender configuration on the TLS?
I'm just about to go the race two line set up but not totally sure why I'm doing it? Not seen a convincing argument yet ......

2 lines from the m/c is the best.It is easier to bleed this way.
2 lines IMWO.

Also easier to take calipers off fork legs and hang them from the bike, the loop over system is terrible for that reason alone.

I didn't find any difference for bleeding

You could also argue there is slightly more un-sprung mass... 3 banjos instead of 2 and 1 longer bolt, extra crush washer.
Good enough. Two lines it is. Carbon look I think ... With shiny SS banjos n stuff.

Thank you guys!

Brakes will be my next upgrade.

my reason: evens pressure to each front rotor while braking.
The difference in pressure is almost negligible on OEM setup.
When there is no flow there can be no pressure drop, there may however be a delay

this delay of pressure at the left side due to the extra distance the pressure waves need to travel
as a rough approximation t = 1/(4c/d)
t = time , c = speed of sound and d = length of loop.
so.... t = 1/(4 x 343mps /0.4m)

t = 0.00029s which is not even worth considering when compared to the delay cause from the impedance of compressible contaminants combined with the elasticity or your brake line and you have a delay that would only be detectable with some good test equipment.

Pressure drop due to viscous flow would be ignored aswell as the overall flow of fluid when applying the brakes is quiet low ( basically the area of your pistons on one side of the calipers x the amount your pads compress) and the distance so short, most flow is just getting the pads to meet the rotor faces.

The main things are good clean fluid, seals, free pistons, lines that do not expand and correct master cylinder displacement.

Now Juzzy ... That's the kinda answer I like .... next up from 'Cos they look cool'.

Seriously, I've often wondered why the OEM lines aren't just two .... Less hassle at the factory and perhaps a smidge less costly in manufacture. Whatever, like the thought processes going on and I'm acting on the bling factor now. I think I've picked that up from my wife :rolleyes:banana
I guess it may be because with those rubber lines the more length there is the spongier they get.

Nice Shiny and tidy that Tim .... Whoa your torque arm's fallen off :rotfl

I went with the Wezmoto ones, £83 for both front, rear and clutch.
Tim,

That brake setup is beautiful.

So much so that it inspired me to do a cheapy upgrade off fleabay. Used parts, but I got the Nissin fronts (Triumph badged w/ lines and MC included ) as well as TLS front stainless lines all for under $100. Can sell the stock stuff and leftover bits and maybe "brake" even. :laugh

Can I simply use the double banjo from the caliper 3-line setup on the MC for the 2-line setup?

I will probably get a better idea of the setup once they arrive... just thinking it through in my head.

.....
Maybe.....but the calipers and MC are often a different thread pitch.

Thank you sir!

I guess I will have two choices because the Triumph brakes will have a double banjo too, but I assume since they are bolt on replacements the thread pitches will be the same.

Doesn't it rain where you are? I wouldn't stand a cat in hell's chance of keeping my bike that clean. I'm looking at this and comparing it with the state of my rear caliper when it came off. I need to emigrate. :)

Oh shit .... Now snowy reckons I'm stupid ... :bawling

Nah mate. I meant the original pics. That is a very shiny clean set of brakes. Every part in the pictures seemed to be gleaming so either the bike has never seen wet weather or that is one serious case of OCD cleaning fetish. :laugh

'Sides, why would I suggest a man is stupid when his screen name refers to high powered rifle ammunition? :uhoh

I'm old enough to be more of a .303 man but the effect is the same. :)
