Hi again. I'm looking at a clean 2000 year TLR with @ 22000k miles. Cost is @ £4500 but service history sketchy - could you advise thoughts of the price being asked, bearing in mind I would presumably need to get the big service done just to be safe (valve check / shims etc) and approx cost of this (would use an independent mechanic I trust)?
Hope ok and thanks,
Andrew.

I just bought a 2000 TLR to be honest as I can be bike shops see us ride up n see $$$$$ so u need to look around more I paid 200 for the bike got it up n safe running for less then 400 but the bike is old and needs replacing of key items not knowing its last owner I. Find myself guessing was he or she a wheelie person a cruiser a commuter or what so I'm going threw the bike now and seeing it don't matter how they rode I just need to rebuild everything if I want this beauty to keep me going in the wind so to answer I'd say your correct up to 4500.

Can highly recommend when it comes to new tyres are Mitas EO7 Dakar's. Cost me £158 for the pair. 50/50 tyre, great on tarmac too and last big miles, upto 12000 miles even on heavy GS's. I've also fitted them to my Super Tenere as well as T7. Also hard sidewalls so can be used with very low pressures.
