How long should a battery last? Mine is 4 years old, never died on me. Keep it on a trickle charger every winter. Just now, i notice that it takes 3 attempts to keep the bike running..it will turn over 2 times, but then cut out..and 3rd time stays running no problem..i am running a techlusion tfi box..but that is tuned and running properly..i dont know if my battery has just exceeded it life, or if i have another problem. :confused

a well maintained battery can last anywhere from 3-5 years, for a car anyway. I've had batteries that last barely 2 years, and had one in my old truck that lasted 5 years. A good riding buddy of mine bought his 600RR new in '03 and still has the original battery in his, without any issues. Also, my dad has had his harley for about 4 years now with the same battery. Check out the battery first, with my old Katana, I'd have to fill up the cells with deionized water every 3-4 thousand miles and once I did, it would fire up like new :O

but I usually dont have bikes long enough to wear out a battery :laugh
