Hello to all, I'm considering the purchase of a 97 s. I have read on the frame, ecu, and tb's.
the seller says the frame is absolutely clear of cracks and has never been welded or replaced. He does have a ohlins rear on it so does that eliminate that possibility or is that only the biturbo one? the tb's were sync'd 2 years ago durring clean out but it does have a 97ecu.

Just wondering if all of the earlier frames go or if it is hit and miss. I cant really check the bike out as it is to far away. would I be able to see the cracks w/o stripping the bike down?
Just looking for some opinions.

The frames can crack on the rotary damper mounting points. If the bike has an Ohlins damper, it should be fine. Mine went like this in 2002.

The repair was straightforward seen here with Maxton damper installed.

The frames can also suffer I believe if the bike is wheelied a lot and comes down hard each time? Someone will correct me on that point.
