2013 Hillclimb - Poor TL doesn't have a chance

I stil have the fastest time for a TL - beat my P/B by 3 seconds this year; but look at the winner - cracking 300kph through the middle section! TL Jimmy is at least 70kph down on this. Need a big bore kit:laugh.

Unfortunately there was a fatality last year, so we got a lot more runs in as less people signed up. RIP Malcolm Foster, Ducati 999.

I did have a good battle with a RSV1000 who's rider competes at the IOM classic, but the bugger beat me by 0.02 of a second;)

Here's a vid of the winning bike - I didn't have a camera this year. And yes, the speedo is correct!!

BTW right at the end of the vid you can see me standing next to the tail of my TLS, in the black n white leathers holding my helmet.

Wow! That's scary fast in my book! :hmm Good video. :thumbup

On the plus side, there are very few roadside hazards, compared to IOM.
Damn impressive. Large diameter tungsten cojones for sure.
I'm lucky - it's a 10 minute ride from my door:) I absolutely love it.

I'll make sure I have a camera next year.
Amazing speed!! always wonder how in the world the tires grip at these speeds ...
Nice work jimmy, wish i could ave been there.
Modern tyres are incedible. That guy is running race slicks and tyre warmers - I run dunlop SportSmarts - which aren't even a dedicated track tire; they slide around a bit, but on the whole are pretty amazing. They take low pressures and warm up very quickly. My corner speeds arent tooo far removed from the modern I4's, though there's a young guy on an R6 that sticks it to me - but I find it frustrating how much time I lose on the straights. In the class I run inThere are a few late model CBR1000RR and Gixxer thous behind me, but theres an MVAugusta1000 that beats me by a coupla seconds - and I knoww he's caining me on the 3 long straights. They don't have a V-twin class - which I would've come 2nd in by0.02 sec to a Mille 'prilly.

I know how Cal Crutchlow feels:lol

The guy that won it is in a league of his own though, busted the previous record by approx.4 secs - the bike is NZSBK spec, but for a fatty he sure can make it sing:laugh

One day Mike:). We must catch up one day for a beer and a chat.

Great video, super fast and super scary, no room for the smallest error there. That's some hill climb.

Best you stay well away then .:laugh
Fast and fun, looked a little offline and close to the edge around 1.40 :laugh

I doubt even a big bore TL would compete with an i4 at those speeds, no slow turns to gain some advantage back
So the ZX10RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR has 60bhp more and weighs about 60Kg less than a TL. But I ask myself, is it really fun?

:O :skeptic :laugh

In superbike spec that beast is probbly putting out 80 - 100 more hp than my bike.

A big bore would probably get me closer to the pointy end of the support class, and drop a few jaws while doin it:devious. I know a bad workman blames his tools yadda yadda, but but I really am wringing the poor old girls neck; just off the limiter at least a third of the time. I've tried riding it more like a twin, tried different gearing, but screaming to the top with stock gearing has proved the fastest so far.

Got an agreement with the wife - the mortgage will be paid in full by november 2015 if I lay off the beer and motorcycle modding over the next 2 years - I'll then have $400 per weekto split between house maintenance and TL modification. So there will be a full rebuild with some ported heads and a big bore in my future:banana.

Not a drop of beer has passed my lips for 6 months; I even found an overlooked bottle of stout in the cupboard the other day, and used it to make a very nice beef stew:laugh

400 bucks a week to spend?? your gonna have a hell of a bike by then!

Gotta share that with house renovations; and I spose I should let the wife buy something too.....naaa:laugh.

From this point in time two years of penny pinching seems like an eternity - but it'l be worth it. I can then get Stu to do a big-bore and ported head re-build for me.
