Hello guys,
I'm looking for some price opinions. This is Northern California with clean titles. I show up with cash. Thanks!!

First...
A 99 TLR Blue White with 19,000 miles on it.
It has the full Yoshimura exhaust and a PowerCommander2. Otherwise it is stock with 1/2 worn tires and chain.
"Apparently" the valves were adjusted at 15,000. Basically, no documented maintenance that I know of.
2 small scratches on left side. Never down.
I go to see it at 4pm today.

Second...
A 98 TLR Yellow with 40,000 miles on it.
It has the full Yoshimura exhaust and a PowerCommander2. 500 miles on new tires, chain, sprockets, fluids, valve adj., VCgasket, plugs.
2 scratches on left side and a gouged left pipe. Never down.
I go to see it Saturday morning.

Just in.. New picture.
The 98 Yellow TLR owner bot the Yosh system with a dent in the left pipe. Ouch!
Any opinions on values? I won't get mad. I promise. Thanks in advance. I go to look in 3 hours.

egebhardt,

Not too good a judge and I know the Southern US our prices are cheap-o, but I have seen similar setups as cheap as $3000. I got my S with an R motor and Yoshi pipes with less miles than both for... $2100 :devious
Wow. 2100 for a nice TLS is a deal.
If you've seen 1 like the Blue 99 with 19,000 miles for 3000, that means it might pencil to 3500 or more out here.
The 99 Blue TLR is asking 4500. I'm shooting for 3500 or I'll probably just walk away.
The 98 Yellow TLR is asking 3500 with 40k miles and a bad pipe smash. He won't go under 3000 or he'll just keep it.

Now you got me looking! http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/mcy/4213383413.html

$3000 clean looking R with a Yoshi exhaust. Not sure the miles on that as it doesn't say, but just an FYI.

He is interested in trading a running car... I have a "running" Jetta. Won't shift out of third though. :laugh Maybe I can throw in a 24 pack. :rotfl
I called Atlanta and got VM. The guy works at the state Pen. Year 2000. Broken plastic. I can't see 2500 in that one. Asking 3000.

If these two are in California, their asking prices seem reasonable. In my mind there is a little added value in the simple fact that they have managed to keep a sportbike relatively undamaged and unmolested for 15 years. You can certainly make a low offer, but don't be surprised if they don't take it. Being in California, my guess is they will sell for near the asking price in two or three months - come spring. Just my 2 cents.

If you want a nice TLR, it is going to cost you, unless you stumble upon someone who doesn't know what they have, or who is in bind and needs the money.

I can relate to the sellers you have listed because I have a '98 Daytona that looks nearly like it rolled off the show room floor, but it starts better and has better lighting. Yet, the going rate is only $2500 to $3000. So, I guess I'll never sell it. :)

Well.... I went to see the Blue 99. The seller said 2 small scratches on the left side. He lied. The left side was laid down slowly. Not bad, in general. Rash on every part but the bottom cowl. He has no records and has done zero maintenance since he bot it 6 months ago, says PJ. I think he overpaid and wants the next guy pay.
He held firm at 4100. I offered 3000. He still owns it and said he paid 4100 in Aug 2013.

Y'all can offer him more than me, if you want. His name is PJ at 413-214-3216.

In SoCal, around 3500 retail at a dealership, a bit less from a private party.
The TLR sellers I've spoken to are placing their values above the part-out price. The TLR buyers want to spend about 3000. There is a huge price-disconnect. TLRs aren't trading hands as a result.
I call that a cult following. I don't see myself owning a TLR anytime soon.

How bout we find a cheap Southern R, I'll ride it cross country and drop it off?

Two birds with one stone. My brother is in California till March and I have plenty of friends to stay with.

I'll bleed the brakes, change the oil and ride her to you...
Wow! Nice offer.
I prefer to see it in person first.
I paid 3200 here in Okla for my 98 tlr last summer. Has M4's, PC3 and ohlins rear shock and steering dampner. Under 14000 miles too. Has 2 minor scratches on it(not road rash lol). Idk about the prices in your area, but those seem definitely overpriced(even though they are cult bikes). I own several cult toys from a cr500 to 3 250r's(2 trx's and one atc) along with my tiller so I do understand the difference between it's real market price versus blue book value. My advice is keep looking. Find one where the seller is honest and isn't trying to pass off road rash as scratches.
Wow! Nice offer.

I almost bid on this, flew and dropped it off at your door... He even offered to pick me up at the airport! A little hacked up, but low miles and could have been a treat!
