Need Help PLEASE!
OK been reading posts for the last couple hours.
First: mods; d&d cans, k&n air filters stock ECU , ecu mods/maps (dont know), no other mods i'm aware of.

Bought this year with 42000 miles , have put on app.
8000 miles this year. Has run extremely GOOD all year.
Out riding thru country other day was about 150 miles into the ride , seem to be running just alittle rough, through the next 30 miles or so started to get worse,

note: was running hard through out the run up to rev limiter and some high speed blasts,

right befor it quick was running about 85mph on the interstate seemed to be loosing power so i jumped off and took a back road. started to get much worsr, ( no backfiring , just running rough and almost like it was starting to only fire on one cyl?

then it just died?

will crank , slowly, then sometime bang to to a stop , then crank again, seem like only one cyl?
pulled plugs , seem like spark, thyed other plugs .
can hear FI prime. cranks fine with plus out. with plugs in seem like to much compression . did realy try cranking to long before dead NEW plugs on the way home today ,
what should I check next, next,.....

PS, looked at a 2006 DL1000 with 451 miles, could this be my BACkUP bike?

Try a jump start from a non running vehicle and then if it starts, do all the checks on the charging system.

charging

Steve,
could it be just not enough juice to give it a hot spark, charging / battery?

forgot to mention , plugs looked good, NOT fouled.
shouldnt they have fouled, if it wasnt getting enough spark?

yes, they should be fouled mate. Sounds like a fuel problem.

Are you sure you can hear the pump priming when you turn the ignition on?

Open the filler cap and try to start it, if it starts then the tanks not represurising and creating a vacuum. (Unlikely)

Check to see that the fuel pipes are routed ok with no kinks in them or nothing fouling them. (Possible)

Remove and drain tank and remove fule pump... clean the filter and refit (Most possible reason with so many miles)

I was kinda thinking a plugged fuel line or something.

When you got the bike home did it start up when it was cold?

no didnt start cold , same symptoms,
goin check fuel system tomorrow...

Did you look at the oil? meaning did you drain it and see if there were any nasty metal flakes in it?

no, havent checked oil, top end looks good , nothing broke,
looking for engine....

or should i try a rebuild.....?????

I'd check the oil... and pull the valve covers an take a look first before going any further.

removed right side cover today, nothing apparent wrong in there. drained oil lots of metal shavings. will remove left side cover tomorrow.

almost certainly spun a big end shell, pm UK moderator Sam, he,s an expert on them...
but only way to confirm is to strip the engine and have a look,
but look on the bright side -
at least you end up with a nice rebuilt engine... good luck

nope: gotsa other tillis, alot less miles than mine, felt like i got a good deal. NOW let us see how it runs.....
