Is it ok to mix match different brand tires front and rear? will it affect anything terribly? My back tire is getting down there and I don't know if ill be able to afford the matching brand when it comes time.

Ok I am currently running a set of Metzler M3's on my 98 TLR. I love the way they handle, they do a great job. however I don't get much milage out of them. I'm trying to find a tired with the handling the same or similar to the M3 but gives me more miles.
