I wonder if I could get away with claiming this as my stag-do before getting married the following month... although convincing her that spending £280 on petrol for a weekend might be tricky

    Don't tell her,
I used 210 litres of fuel a week ago going to the alps and back, worth every penny,
I'll probably be similar travelling wise as this year, thurs Friday to venue, Sunday Monday back, might have a look at the overnight crossing to holland a bit earlier this time to see if its viable for the weds night.

Harwich to hook of Holland, weds 12th June. 11.00pm crossing arrives in Holland 08.00am, with a single cabin, £111.00. Less if sharing a cabin, I'm up for it, saves booking a hotel for the weds eve, either in Dover,France or Belgium.
Just need to book a return ferry from Calais or Dunkirk for the Monday, I'm aware this is a little further for Geoff from darn sarf, but he can't have the easy route al l the time.

Yea, it might be 360 - 370 miles but still 6 hours in the saddle by motorway, add an hour and a half for 4 fuel stops too......... yes do-able but a long ride.

Are you thinking of a stop over for the Thursday night then?

Of course as I'd already stated Thursday/Friday to get to the venue, and I don't intend sitting on a fackin motorway all the way there Ted.
Some lovely roads to ride in northern Germany, not sure about some of Holland but ill give it a go,

Cost wise I think it would be cheaper to go with a return on the Calais shuttle on the Thursday to Monday.
Not really my cup of tea.

Might be a nice change to take the overnight ferry.
But then about 6 to 7 hours off motorway to the Osnabruck area then around 4 or 5 hours off motorway to the venue?

I think I might prefer an extra day(s) and still stay off motorway but have somewhat less hours in the saddle.

Stenaline ferry say ATM, it would be £190 for 2 riders, 2 bikes and an inside cabin plus breakfast - one way. They also said wait until January sale where it could be up to 20% cheaper.

Obviously you have the return journey to add to that. I think the shuttle would be around £40 one way.
