I need someones help, my husband is in the Army and he
has left his bike in my hands. I have been starting it and letting it warm up for
the last month that he has been gone, but he wanted me to put it in gear and
let it actually move every once in a while. I did tonight but could not get it to
go back into neutral. I know I should remember if he told me any thing
special to do other than to hold the brake in and pull up on the shifter until it
went back to neutral, but I don't. It is a TL1000r

It may be kinda tricky if you have never done it before. If all you did was put it into first gear when putting it in gear, all you should have to do is hold the clutch and move the gear selector up about half way. if you turn the ignition on, without starting it, you should see a green light on the bottom right of the display with a "N" in it. this is of course if it is working. If you have gone too far...i.e. into second gear, its the same thing but halfway down. again the green light should come on when it is in nuetral. If you dont know what gear you are in, push the gear selector down releasing the clutch everytime until it wont go any more(you should be in first gear at this point). then start the process as i mentioned before. hope this helps.

Make sure it is in first. That is all the way down. The gears are 1 down and the rest up. Once it is all the way down go up a little on the shift lever. The green light should come on.

unless it is set up for GP shift pattern which is 1st gear all the way up one click down is neutral next click 2nd gear so on......
