New Member, new bike

Just picked this up before snowfall
1999 Tiller, only 12k on it. I'm tearing it down now, new tires, fork seals, undertail kit, etc. I'm thinking of going down to a 14 tooth front sprocket. Any thoughts? I love the lower end grunt, but want more, and have no need for any high end speed.

You can think of it as a baby Tiller if you want to 🙂

I thought a baby tiller was an SV650.

Like my TL I'm old, overweight and badly maintained but I can still surprise you by how fast I can move.

14 tooth front sprocket will be too small. The chain will run on the swinging arm.
Fit a hyabusa rear. It will just fit with the standard chain length. 2 teeth up on the rear. Any bigger and you'll need a longer chain. You could just get away with a 16/40 ratio too if you want to drop the gearing a bit more but I've always found 17/40 to be fine.
