PAIR valve removal shortcut - TLR

I'm anal and wouldn't stand for clamping off the rear tube. But damn, that bottom bolt on the flange, by the head is a b*tch to get to. No way I'm gonna pull the motor to get these things on. So the rear cyl exhaust was pulled, and the damper unbolted (for visibility)...

The top nut came off with relative ease.

And after a night of cussing at the rear tube I just figured, let's find a way to break it off.

So, I started to bend it from the right side, up and down, hoping it would break at the flange by the exhaust port. If it broke, I could access the nut right?

I was shocked to find that it wouldn't break, BUT the flange was bending. Awesome. The flange, from all the flexing, flattened out enough that the nut was then finger tight. Boo-yah!

So off it came, and thanks to Chucks tips of using a magnet/antenna thingy, it was retreived.

Off it went, and then to get the block off plate on...

Dunno if there's any RCers out there, but theres cool sticky tape called servo tape. Double stick the plate to a finger tip with servo-tape to get it on the studs.

Then use the magnet/antenna thingy to place the nuts over the studs, thru the frame side. Gently spin em on with a fingertip.

On mine, I used a regular 1/4" socket, on a swivel and then a 4-5" extension. Routed it through the bottom hole in the left side of the frame. You can watch from above, and a hand crammed beside the shock can give it a little guidance. Really not too hard to remove. Putting it back on was much worse. I'll bet I dropped the nut ten times.

Need some of those magnetic socket inserts, I guess.
