    R1 Shock Mod on TL1000S

Once I start this mod i will take as many pictures as possible regarding the fitment of the 2004–2008 R1 shock mod including any dismantleing of the R1 Shock.
    I do have a couple of questions to get me on my way;
How do you get the spring off the R1 shock?
Does anyone have the measurements for the spacers and bolts to be used (also is there a prefered material (high tensile steel bolts, aluminium spacers etc))?
I will be removing the stock unit and replacing it with a 2007 R1 shock (in the post to me now), I get the general idea of how this is to be done and to be honest it doesnt look that complex (famous last words), I am no mechanic but would like to think not a complete idiot (contrary to the beleif of my wife).
I have lots of tools and plenty of bots washers and bits lying around but if anyone could help out with the exact dimensions of the spacer required and bolt dimensions it will be an easier job for me (already purchased the bracket from Sparky).

Any help will be much appreciated.
    TL1000S, I love it !

I removed my spring by cuttinging through one of the coils with a grinder. When you get to a point when you are almost through, it will snap in two.

I used some cheap car spring removers, and a length of bar to put through the bottom eye/ end without reservoir
One end of spring remover on the spring
The other hooked over the bar
    Wind them down
    Pop out the collet
    Unwind the remover
    Take spring off
    Takes about 5 mins
And leaves you with a shock that can be rebuilt as a r1 shock

What you need is a length of ally spacer like the one picture here. Then cut to length once you have the bracket and shock in place

    M10 top and bottom
But you'll need to run a drill through the subframe mount

excellent thanks, do you know the OD of the spacer. sorry to be "anal" about it but I would like to have all parts machined before I start as I would like to complete the mod in one day rather than drawing it all out, thanks again to all that have helped

can I assume that the OD of the spacer is not critical, so an OD of about 20mm should be ok
