OldTLSDoug Rides Anew?....Again?......at the track
I am going out to the track here in about 30-45 minutes to debut both the Husky and my thumb. Hopefully they will both perform well. Amazingly, nobody is available to go. Funny thing when you couldn't find anyone to go to the track with you
Anyway, I plan to do just one or two sessions as I will be there all day Saturday. I will post up on how it was. I have new BT-016 tires front and rear with 40 miles on them. So hopefully I will get some speed up and drag a knee.
The goal for today is line following and NOT crashing. I also need to see if my hand rehab is good enough for hard braking into the corners, sucks when you can't brake hard. So, I will let ya'll know how she went.

A Kourier has to establish space on the pavement. Predictable law-abiding behaviour lulls drivers. They mentally assign you to a little box in the lane, assume you will stay there, can't handle it when you leave that little box.
Y.T. is not fond of boxes. Y.T. establishes her space on the pavement by zagging mightily from lane to lane, establishing a precedent of scary randomness. Keeps people on their toes, makes them react to her, instead of the other way round.

Track report, did one session. The Husky is as good or better than I remember the KTM being, that said, I didn't push the Husky like I pushed the KTM. The BT-016's were the business, lots of grip, nothing scary, I had too much air in them and therefore have some chicken strips still. But I didn't fall down. The 4 pad/piston front Brembo will save your ass and lift it at the same time. The turn in on the bike is quick, but it is really stable in bumps also. I assume it is the longer wheel base. My track preparation consisted of removing the mirrors and winding in 2.5 turns of preload on the rear shock. Wow, almost spot on, the rear feels way better than it does on the twisty roads, so I think I fixed it. I have no idea as to the sag settings, but the weight transfer on braking and accelerating is so smooth and predictable that I may leave it alone. I only went 20 miles, but I learned a lot about the Husky. I need to gear down one in the front or up 3-5 in the rear so I can have a little power coming off the corners. It is either right at the rev limiter or just before the power band the way it is currently geared in the 2 I need to drive off of that were a pain.
Verdict? Big thumbs up to the bike, I feel good about my performance, and nobody hit the ground (I was the only one on the track )
Saturday will be a blast to ride with some other bikes, hope to continue the string of not falling down (30 min so far )
Hand is good, a little sore, but definitely up to the task

Oh yeah, gear update. I rode with my Sidi Vertigo boots and they are way more comfortable than my old ones, as you can adjust the calf size around your leathers. So they don't pinch and constrict and such. Another big thumbs up.

Sweet, nice to see you kept your membership. One day I'll have to nag you to come take advantage. Plus I can still tell all my friends that I know a guy with a membership at a racetrack.
Good to hear about the bike. Is the hand going to be up to a full day of riding?
