TWO WHEELS ONLY magazine- MAR 2006

Ohhhh...
In an article headed:
"THE BIKES THAT TIME 4GOT. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn: 4 bikes that were meant to revolutionise motorcycling. But never did."

Featured the BMW K1, Yamaha GTS1000, Tiller and Bimota Tesi 1D.

The reviewers closing comments on the Tiller:
"Coming back to the TL-R for this test was like meeting an old friend whos been on the piss since you last met and has aged 15 years in just two. Everything on it looked like it had been a struggle to get into place, from the damper bolted awkwardly above the top yoke to the exhausts fighting for space and the sidestand lug that has to be a foot long to give you a fighting chance of ever finding it. The ride was positively prehistoric: lazy turn in, a lacklustre motor and wooden brakes. Its no surprise this bike never saw a WBS grid"

One man's opinion, I s'pose!

He lost all credibility when he said "lacklustre motor", the TL motor is widely regarded as still possibly the best sport twin motor ever built. Not to mention that the TLR motor did see the WSB grid in the Bimota SB8R, and it even won a race at Phillip Island, albeit in the rain. This guy is what I believe the French call "La Douche' Bag".

nah, not that one Tornado!
The article is about a 1991 model, beautifully encased in a full red/white fairing...same hub-steering concept though!
Its the 'grandfather' of the one you've shown!

Ummmmm.....nope....sorry Nissn1...
The article starts:
"Its fair to say that Suzuki's TL1000R never got the best of starts when it came into this world, coming as it did on the heels of the TL1000S, a motorcycle that attracted more bad press than Osama Bin Laden."

and goes on:
".....but given the occasional but well-documented tendency of the TLS to tankslap owners into hedges......."

Both TL's got a bit of a hammering from this guy!

You got that right. Often people like this (movie critics often too) will poo-poo something because they think it makes them sound more discriminating, or like they have higher standards. Wanker I say

If any old dip shit with a pen and pad of paper wants to tear down one of the greatest rides i've ever experienced, and still one of the best looking bikes in the lot - to hell with him.

It's like a politician saying that my small town here in New Hampshire is "lachlustre" because it isn't following the trend of every day society.

Suzuki took a stand to "revolutionize" motorcycles ; and they did with a bad ass import V-Twin on two different set ups (R and S)
All this "reporter" knows is that domestic trends and his ratings are on the same grid. Let the ass bow down to the normal, while i ride by on an original piece of art in the form of a TL1000R
