I don't ride with music because I can't hear what is going on around me as well.
Plus I don't need music to get me psyched up to a point where I think I'm Valentino and end up doing things that would bring me to the limits of my skills and beyond.

I do I do, use the Shuffle and some Sony in-ear headphones. The headphones work wonders with noise cancellation and only allow the rumble of the twin through. The music gets me pumped and makes the ride just that much more fun.

Good topic! I was just gonna ask this question. I've always been afraid to try riding with music, but I have a 45 minute drive on a hiway to work. And with the advent of the iPod (God's greatest gift to mankind, save the motorcycle) I am quite tempted.
I just got my bike today, and have not ridden to work yet, plus I have a company car with free gas and maintenence.
Somewhere down deep in my soul, I feel like anything that could possibly be a distraction should be avoided, and I would think music counts as a distraction.
On the other hand, I sure do love music. Everything from Pantera to The Carpenters, from Frank Sinatra to Korn.
 MUSIC!

Same here CSS996, I love to drive to music so I can imagine riding to music. I may try it at least low volume but I think I will try it on the highway not really round town!!

Let me know how it goes. Like, if you feel disconnected from the task of staying alive or not. I may give it a shot next week.
Good luck, and be safe.

I luv the rumble of the TL and I also like to hear all the street noise, kinda keeps me alert, paying attention....
I don't know, maybe I start paying attention to the music....
anyway, nope.
